Beautiful Minds Revived History
Friday night brought history alive with the likes of Carrie Fisher, Audrey Hepburn and Leonard Cohen visiting the Des Moines metro to perform and talk about their life with mental illness. These famous artists and thinkers privately or publicly battled with depression, eating disorders and severe anxiety but were still quite successful in their chosen career.
Attendees of Beautiful Minds, the first of its kind fundraiser event, were able to interact with these famous characters as they perused silent auction items and munched on tasty appetizers at Forte. This sold out crowd buzzed with energy about supporting mental health in Iowa and backing NAMI Iowa as the voice for those with mental illness.
Guests departed to eight homes around the Des Moines metro to enjoy catered and delicious home cooked meals by our generous hosts. The lively groups spent more time with one character and enjoyed monologues, serandes and special performances. Each dinner party was a smashing success!
A special thank you to everyone involved in making Beautiful Minds a hit! We have no doubt this event will continue to grow into a staple fundraiser in the coming years!
