Meet Spring 2018 Intern Randy Paulson
My name is Randy Paulson, and I’m currently a junior at Simpson College where I study multimedia journalism and Spanish. At Simpson, I’m a reporter and editor for our campus newspaper, The Simpsonian. I’m also active with the Simpson Feminist club and am a fellow with the John C. Culver Public Policy Center, an organization that promotes civic knowledge and engagement on campus. While this past political cycle has been hectic, I believe being civically engaged is key to understanding the way our democratic society functions and allows to help shape the world we live in.
During my second semester at Simpson, I interned for the House of Representatives at the Iowa Capitol, which gave me a glimpse of the inner workings of Iowa public policymaking.
During my sophomore year, I was involved with Simpson’s Public Relations Student Society of America chapter, where my team and I conducted a campus-wide research and awareness campaign on mental health and illness.
A few more things about me:
•I competed in speech and debate my first two years of college
•I love the show Brooklyn Nine-Nine
•Granola bars are my go-to snack food
•I could listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ music all day
•Last year, I studied in London for a college May term course. There, my two favorite experiences were watching David Tennant perform live in a West End theatre show and visiting the Churchill War Rooms
